Door sticking or rubbing
Catching on the frame, floor or another door. Causes may include alignment, hinge position, frame movement or dimensional change in the timber.
LuxeCraft repairs and installs wooden and interior doors across Dubai — doors that stick, rub, sag, will not close cleanly or will not latch and lock properly — along with the hinges, frames, architraves and fittings that go with them. Where a door is no longer suitable to retain, replacement and installation can be quoted instead. This is carpentry work on wooden and interior doors, not automatic, garage or shutter-door systems.
The same symptom can have more than one cause, so the door, hinges and frame are assessed before a scope is agreed.
Send a photo of the whole door, a close-up of the problem area, your Dubai location, and a short description — whether it closes, latches and locks, and whether you want repair or replacement.

The service covers wooden and interior doors and the carpentry around them: the door leaf, timber frames and architraves, hinges, alignment and closing action, and handles, latches and locks where fitting them forms part of the agreed scope. Repair, full replacement and new installation are all handled, and several doors can be quoted as one scope.
Work is carried out on bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, entrance and internal doors in apartments and villas, and on interior doors in offices and commercial premises. Each door is assessed on its own condition rather than by assumption.
This carpentry service does not cover automatic, garage or shutter-door systems. If that is what you need, another specialist will serve you better.
Catching on the frame, floor or another door. Causes may include alignment, hinge position, frame movement or dimensional change in the timber.
Dropped at the outer edge, often hinge or fixing related, though the frame can be involved.
Springing back, sitting proud of the frame, or needing pressure to shut.
The latch missing the strike plate, the lock not throwing fully, or the door holding only when pushed.
Screws no longer holding, plates pulling away, or wear needing adjustment.
Split, dented, water-affected or previously repaired.
Fitting or refitting handles, latches and locks within door carpentry scope.
Split panels, damaged edges, or a leaf previously cut or drilled.
A door that will not latch or lock is not only inconvenient. It affects privacy, control over who enters a room, and in some cases practical security — worth having looked at rather than lived with.
The cause is not always the lock. A latch that no longer meets its strike plate can come from the door dropping on its hinges, the frame moving, the hinges working loose, the strike plate sitting out of position, or the lock mechanism itself. These produce a similar symptom and need different corrections, which is why assessment beats guesswork.
What helps:
This page covers door carpentry. Locksmith, lockout and key-cutting services are outside the scope described here.
Repair is often the sensible route where the door and frame are structurally sound and the problem is alignment, hinges, fittings or localised damage. Doors are frequently serviceable long after they stop working properly — a dropped door that has been catching for months may need hinge and alignment work rather than a new leaf, and a frame that has moved slightly can be corrected without touching the door at all.
Replacement is worth considering where damage is extensive rather than localised, where the door or frame is no longer suitable to retain, where previous alterations have left the leaf compromised, or where replacement is already part of what you are planning — a renovation, a change of style, or bringing several doors into line with each other.
Between those two positions the answer depends on the door in front of you, which is what the assessment establishes. Send photos and a description, and the team can tell you which conversation you are having before you commit either way. There is no universal price threshold for that decision; the condition of the door and frame, the work required and the intended result all matter.
A problem that presents as "the door" may originate elsewhere in the door assembly. The leaf, hinges, frame and hardware all affect how the door opens, closes and latches, while the architrave may also need repair where it is damaged.
This is why a door catching at the top corner may need hinge work rather than planing, and why a latch that will not engage may be a frame issue rather than a lock issue. Removing timber from a door that is not actually oversized is difficult to undo, so the cause is worth establishing before anything is cut or adjusted.
Where replacement is being considered, the quotation should confirm how the existing door will be handled, what preparation the opening requires, and what is included in fitting and aligning the replacement so it closes and latches correctly.
The agreed scope should also state who is supplying the door and which hinges, handles, latches, locks, frame or architrave work, and finishing are included. Do not assume those items are included unless they appear in the quotation.
Practical points that shape an installation: the existing opening dimensions and whether it is square; clearance at the floor, particularly where flooring has been added since the original door was fitted; the direction of swing; and how the new door relates to others nearby if you want them consistent. Timber type, construction and finish are agreed as part of the specification rather than assumed.
The quotation should identify what is being supplied, repaired, retained and installed — so it is clear before work begins which parts are new and which are staying.
Timber responds to moisture and changes in surrounding conditions, so bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas and locations with greater moisture exposure can require that factor to be considered.
Humidity is not the automatic explanation for a sticking door. Hinge movement, frame movement and loose fixings can create similar symptoms, which is why the cause should be checked before timber is removed or adjusted.
Timber type, construction and the condition of the finish all affect how a door behaves over time. These are considered during assessment rather than assumed.
A photo of the whole door, a close-up of the problem area, your location and what the door is doing.
The leaf, hinges, frame and hardware are reviewed to establish the cause. Where inspection is required, a site assessment can be arranged.
Repair, adjustment, hardware, frame work or replacement, set out in your quotation.
Work proceeds according to the approved scope.
The door is checked against the agreed scope, including how it closes and latches, and the warranty confirmed.
Door pricing depends on the specific scope, because a hinge adjustment and a full replacement involve very different work.
The quotation should make the agreed door, frame, hardware and installation scope clear before work begins.

Warranty depends on the type and scope of work. The minimum standard service warranty is 1 month, with longer periods only where confirmed for your job and stated in your quotation.

Door work may involve a single sticking door or several doors included within one agreed scope.
In apartments, larger replacement or multi-door projects may involve service lift access, permitted working hours and protection of common areas, and some buildings may require access permission depending on scope.
In villas, access can sometimes be more straightforward, which may make multi-door work easier to plan.
In offices and commercial premises, work may need scheduling around business hours and coordination with building management.
LuxeCraft takes wooden door work across Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JLT, JVC, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, Al Barsha, Jumeirah, Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches, along with other residential and commercial areas in the emirate.
The company's office address is on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the team travels to your property for assessment and installation. Mention your area, property type and floor when you get in touch — it helps with access planning and scheduling.
Send a photo of the whole door, a close-up of the problem area, your Dubai location, and a short description — whether the door closes, latches and locks, and whether you want repair or replacement. The team will tell you what is likely involved and what is needed to quote it.
